Well it’s back. Same P0420 code as before. Praying it’s not the cat because I would very much not like to replace the cat. I think it’s my PCV valve being stuck open, soiling the MAF sensor. Because every time I clean the MAF sensor, the car seems to run leaner.

Also, FUCK dorm life. Thank god I’m getting out of here today. I got written up by RAs on duty last night for being too loud with my friends. There may or may not have been substances in that room that those of us who are <21 should not be in the presence of, but that’s irrelevant. Oh well, I’m going to pack up my shit today with my brother and get the fuck out of here.

Need an obd2 scanner? I have one and your brother knows where I live. I can give it to you if you need.

Np. If you need it, it’s in my obd2 port. So go to my grandparents and get a ladder. It’s STILL on the lift. I hate that engine.

I appreciate it! But I pulled codes and got the freeze frame data at O’Reillys here in boulder.

yeah, you probably need a cat if you’re getting 420 :(

that’s why the code is 420, because of the smoke! :p

It's pretty much impossible for a secondary O2 sensor to cause a P0420 code. When the rear O2 sensor starts reading fluctuations converter failure is inferred. When sensors fail they don't fluctuate or read constant voltage and that would set a sensor code not a converter code

Can’t speak for all makes and models but on my car, the aft O2 sensor is the (much) cheaper one. You might catch a break.

Most cars I’ve worked on, too.
